Johnnie has served as senior associate with Partners for Livable Communities, based in Washington, D. C., a firm dedicated to helping create livable communities across America. He has also served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor for Economic & Workforce Development at the University of West Alabama, located in the heart of the Black Belt region of Alabama.
Johnnie is a graduate of Auburn University, the Institute of Organization Management at Notre Dame University, and the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC. An award-winning professional, he served as President of the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Alabama and was the 2002 Chamber Professional of the Year in Alabama.
He is the founder and a charter graduate of Leadership Tuscaloosa; a graduate and member of Leadership Alabama; a former member of the board of directors, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Alabama Association of Nonprofits; a 25-year member of the board of directors of the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama; and a leader in numerous other professional, civic and service organizations at the local, state and national levels.
